Waterproofing/airtightness
With its design, the Head Rachel guarantees you will stay dry no matter the weather, which is often a drawback of visor helmets.
The same for airtightness. The visor presses and fits the shape of your face and limits air ingress (turbulence inside the visor, cold getting in, eyes running, etc).
With the Rachel, you have all the advantages of skiing goggles and a visor helmet.
Settings
With the BOA adjuster dial and the Sphere Fit system, your skull is perfectly enveloped. The helmet no longer moves and doesn't create pressure points.
The Radar also has an open/close system for ventilation (on 14 of 20 holes) also enables you to enjoy days on your skis no matter what the temperature and physical expenditure.
IN-MOLD STRUCTURE
This type of structure, known as In-Mold, features a polycarbonate outer shell that is moulded directly to the EPS liner. The inner EPS liner absorbs shocks in the event of a collision. The whole thing is extremely lightweight.
We recommend changing your ski helmet at least every 5 years unless it has sustained a significant impact in the meantime.
FITTING
Take plenty of time to try it on properly. You should not feel any areas of discomfort in the helmet or around the visor. If you do then try another model. For people who wear glasses, try the helmet with the pair you will be wearing and open/close the visor to check that there are no sticking points.
Fogging on the glasses is not caused by the helmet. There are anti-fogging treatments for glasses.
WHAT SIZE?
* Measure your head’s circumference in centimetres (around the middle of the forehead and just above the ears).
* Choose the size that covers this measurement.
Example: if you have a head circumference of 56 cm, you should try a helmet in size 55-59 cm.
EN 1077 Standard
During practice, the ski helmet must be properly fitted and adjusted:
* It is essential to choose the right size.
* The head circumference must be adjusted using the thumb wheel.
* The chinstrap must be properly adjusted.
It's a bit like the seat belt in a car: if it’s too loose, it will not perform its function and you will be less protected.
SAFETY
Avoid putting a thick hat under your helmet as this will move the helmet away from your head and you won't be as well protected.
Opt instead for a very thin beanie or balaclava that does not affect your safety. A helmet has good insulating properties. There is often no point in adding anything else. Also, avoid adding a camera to your helmet as this can affect safety. The standard does not take into account any elements added to the helmet.
