WHAT IS A WETSUIT?
This is the most common type of wetsuit on the market. Its purpose is not to keep out the water, but to trap it inside so that your body warms it up, creating a thermal buffer between yourself and the outside.
Made of neoprene – a rubber polymer filled with air bubbles – these wetsuits are available in thicknesses of 0.5 to 7 mm.
As such, they make excellent wetsuits because they are flexible and modular.
TIPS FOR LOOKING AFTER YOUR CANYONING SUIT?
1/ After each session, soak the wetsuit in clean water, inside and out
2/ Use an antibacterial solution to sanitise it
3/ Rinse thoroughly in clean water
4/ Dry on a wide hanger in a well-ventilated place in the shade. Keep away from direct sunlight as it can fade the fabric parts of the suit.
CHOOSE YOUR SIZE CAREFULLY
To make the most of the features of your wetsuit, it is necessary to choose the correct size. A canyoning wetsuit should be a very tight fit and there should be no visible folds. When dry, it is perfectly normal to feel like it is too tight, this discomfort disappears as soon as the wetsuit gets wet. If you choose a wetsuit that is too big, folds will appear, you will experience irritation and thermal insulation will be reduced (letting in water).
