WHAT IS RESOLING?
Resoling involves removing the front part of the old sole and gluing on a new one. We do not put the new sole on top of the old one, to get as close as possible to the original performance of your shoes.
WHEN SHOULD I RESOLE MY SHOES?
You need to resole as soon as one part of your sole (usually the front toe and/or the inner edge) has become thin or is badly damaged.
If you wait too long, you run the risk of piercing your shoe and being unable to repair it.
DO I ALSO HAVE TO REPLACE THE RAND?
The rand is the thin piece of rubber that surrounds the toe of the shoe.
Take a good look to see if it is also worn (in 80% of cases, it is!), because it is better to replace it and resole your shoes at the same time, even if the rand does not have any holes in it yet. Otherwise, holes will quickly appear after resoling and you will have to order resealing and rand repairs again.
Our climbing technicians and sales assistants will be able to advise you.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THERE IS A HOLE IN MY SHOES?
In principle, your shoes can no longer be resoled.
However, if the hole is < 5 mm2, we can repair it by sewing at an additional cost.
Sometimes, there are no holes in your shoes, but the leather is damaged. Here again, we will need to reinforce them by sewing.
Our climbing technicians and sales assistants will be able to advise you.
CAN I CHOOSE MY SOLES?
We offer several qualities of rubber to suit your use.
By way of example, here is what you will find in most stores:
Standard rubber:
1- ENDURO: supple and strong. Multi-purpose.
2-GRIP VIBRAM: medium rigidity, strong. Multi-purpose.
High-performance rubber (at an extra cost)
1-XS GRIP VIBRAM: supple with very good grip. Recommended for indoor use.
2-XS EDGE VIBRAM: rigid and strong. Recommended for rock climbing.
WHERE CAN I TAKE MY SHOES IF I DECIDE TO HAVE THEM RESOLED?
All you have to do is go to the workshop in your Decathlon store to drop off your shoes.
Please note that not all Decathlon stores offer exactly the same range of services, as some prefer to work with local repairers. Ask for information from the on-site technician.
WHAT IS THE GUARANTEE?
We have selected a network of skilled repairers who are demanding about the quality of their work.
That is why we guarantee the quality of our resoling. This means that if there is even the slightest gluing or finishing fault on delivery or after a few climbing sessions, we will resole them again free of charge.
