Skill level: Advanced or professional
This racket is designed for advanced or professional players looking for a powerful, lightweight, easy-to-handle and durable racket.
Playing style: Powerful
The diamond-shaped head and high-performance features make the Vertex SMU 02 an innovative racket. The carbon composition and head-heavy balance provide maximum power at the moment of impact and optimise ball control.
Balance: High
This is the racket balance point, measured in millimetres from the bottom of the racket handle.
The larger the number (head-heavy balance), the more power and stability you'll get from the racket and the heavier it will feel (even if it's not a heavy racket). However, you'll have to give up some manoeuvrability. The smaller the number (grip biased or handle heavy), the easier the racket will be to handle, but the less power and stability you'll get.
Weight: 365-375 g
Just like the balance point, the weight impacts a racket's swingweight and therefore its manoeuvrability, stability and ability to transfer energy to the ball (power). The heavier the racket, the more power you'll get, but the harder it will be to handle. Conversely, the lighter the racket, the easier it will be to handle, but the less powerful it will be.
External material: Glaphite
Glaphite is a blend of fibreglass and carbon. This gives you good control for precise attacking shots and excellent feel when hitting the ball.
Internal material: MultiEVA
MultiEva foam consists of two densities. The outer layer is more compact and responsive to fast balls for maximum power off the racket. The inner layer has a lower density and is more responsive to slower balls for more control.
Carbon Tube technology
100% carbon fibres are integrated into the frame, woven in different directions to achieve a balance of power and control.
Vertex technology
A design feature a the racket throat that distributes weight evenly across the racket to reduce vibration and twisting and increase rigidity. The diamond-shaped head combined with this technology makes the racket more rigid during volleys and powerful shots.
Top Spin technology
Rough surface finish for easier handling - it keeps the ball in contact with the racket for longer for more spin and better shots.
VibraDrive technology
Assembly system in the racket handle into which high-density foam is inserted. This piece absorbs most vibrations, generally from off-centre shots.
Nerve technology
Channels on the edge of the frame to reduce the racket's weight and increase its rigidity. This technology also gives you more control on volleys.
