Which activities can you do with this medium support zip-up bra?
With this sports bra, you can do any medium-impact activity – from dancing to fitness classes and cardio workouts – while staying comfy and knowing that your bust is well protected.
What makes the medium support zip-up bra so easy to move in?
When you exercise, your entire body has to move, including your arms. So, to facilitate your movements and to keep you comfortable throughout your workouts, we've added elastane to the fabric that this sports bra is made from. This makes it stretchier, so it'll have no trouble at all following your every movement.
And as a bonus, the bra's racer back leaves your shoulder blades free to move.
You'll stay dry, even when working up a sweat! But how does the medium support zip-up bra do that?
While exercising, your breasts, which are fragile and supported almost exclusively by skin, experience much more stress than in everyday life. No matter your cup size or age, they're subjected to movements and bouncing that can create a force of up to five times their weight. A sports bra provides the support and comfort you need while exercising. It protects your chest from impacts, pain and premature sagging.
Why does the medium support zip-up sports bra have a zip?
To make the bra quick to put on and take off – and to make your life easier – we've added a zip to the front of this sports bra. It is self-locking to prevent it from opening during use. Simply zip up and press the slider to lock the zip.We've also added a fabric insert at the top of the zip to stop the slider rubbing against your skin.
Why is it essential to protect your breasts during sport?
Did you know that your breasts are supported almost exclusively by skin? This leaves them particularly vulnerable during exercise, when your movements can make them seem up to five times heavier than normal, depending on the intensity of your workout. Wearing a sports bra provides support, keeps you comfortable and protects your breasts from impacts, which prevents pain and premature sagging.
Why are there three levels of support?
When you exercise, your breasts are put through stresses and strains that stretch the skin and ligaments. If you aren't wearing any support, you're more likely to suffer from pain or premature sagging. Too much support can also cause long-term damage. It's therefore important to make sure that your bra offers the right level of support for your cup size and the intensity of your activity. The aim is to protect your bust without altering natural breast movement.
What are the support levels offered by Decathlon's sports bras?
Our bras are put through a lab test that assesses the level of bust support. This test measures the reduction in the acceleration of the breasts during a sports activity. Our bras are then assessed and categorised as follows: 1 for light support, 3 for medium support and 5 for high support.
Which activities need which level of support?
The level of support that you need will depend on the activity you're doing. There are three levels to choose from:
- Level 1: light support for activities that cause gentle breast movement (Pilates, stretching, strength training, etc.);
- Level 3: medium support for activities that cause a moderate level of bounce (dancing, fitness, cardio training, etc.);
- Level 5: high support for activities involving intensive movements (step aerobics, running, trampolining, etc.).
How do you know which is the right size?
It's essential to choose the right size of sports bra to keep your breasts supported and comfortable. Here's how to measure yourself with a tape measure:
- Stand in front of a mirror;
- Hold your tape measure horizontally against your upper back, roughly level with the bottom of your shoulder blades;
- Bring the tape measure across the fullest part of your bust;
- Take the measurement without pulling it tight; - For increased accuracy, take a look at our online calculator.
How does Decathlon design its sports bras?
Decathlon's sports bras do not have underwiring so that there is no risk of injury or of compressing the lymph nodes – and so that you'll stay comfortable. Getting rid of seams across the nipples reduces the risk of rubbing, while using perspiration-wicking fabrics keeps you feeling good and reduces the risk of skin irritation.
How should you look after the medium support zip-up sports bra?
This bra is designed for intensive sports use and can be washed and rewashed often. Our only advice is not to exceed a wash temperature of 30°C and to use our wash bag, sold separately (ref. 8505236).
Do not tumble dry.
