PRACTICAL INFO: How can I prevent snow from getting into my ski suit?
This ski suit has elasticated gaiters at the bottom that cover the boot. If you fall or come into contact with fresh snow, the seal created by the gaiter keeps the snow out.
How should you dress your children to make sure they keep warm on the ski slopes?
To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-technical-layer rule: Layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry. Layer 2 or an insulating layer, to keep the heat in. Layer 3 or a protective layer, to protect against bad weather.
How is waterproofing of the fabric measured?
The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The fabric of the 900 ski suit has a waterproof rating of 10000 mm, and so resists the pressure of 10,000 mm of water.
For skiing, we recommend components between 3000 mm and 10,000 mm.
How is the water resistance of a ski suit measured?
To go beyond an indicative value of waterproofing, at Decathlon we test all our waterproof products in the laboratory. How do we carry out this test? We have an articulated model that wears the jacket and then spends a few hours under a shower.
Using this test, we can confirm that the jacket protects you from snowfall or a light rain shower of 6 cm in one hour.
How is comfortable temperature measured?
We lab-test each of our products so that we can provide you with a indicative value on the item's comfort. This comfort indicator is measured without tights for trousers, and with a thermal t-shirt and a fleece for jackets. The measurement indicated is that of the external temperature in which the testers are neither warm, nor cold. Of course, this perceived temperature varies in line with the intensity of the activity and the metabolism of the individual.
How do I wash my child's ski suit?
To optimise the performance and durability of your ski trousers or jacket, we recommend the following:
Machine wash at 30°, synthetic programme.
Turn the item inside out.
Use a small amount of detergent. No softener.
Spin between 800 and 1200 rpm advised.
Dry flat or tumble dry.
Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator.
