About the Decathlon Adapted Sports Team
The Decathlon Adapted Sports Team aims to make sport accessible to all, including people with disabilities, by offering wheelchairs designed for use in tennis. The team strives to ensure users' comfort and autonomy with all design decisions. The tennis wheelchair was developed (designed and tested) in collaboration with disabled people to ensure it meets players' needs.
Accreditation and medical device
The tennis and racket sports wheelchair is recognised as a medical device. It has been certified according to EN 12183 standard by CERAH, which checks that the product meets all required criteria.

Check the criteria:
- Skill level and frequency of use.
- Possible adjustments.
- Safety elements.
- Comfort.
The Decathlon TW500 tennis and racket sports wheelchair was designed for athletes who use a wheelchair and in collaboration with disabled wheelchair tennis athletes.
The wheelchair is fully accredited.
How do you maintain your racket sports wheelchair?
Every week:
- Check the tyre pressure to ensure smooth rolling.
- Regularly clean and oil the quick-release mechanism on the wheels.
Every three months:
- Check the front tyres for wear and that the pads on the front and rear wheels and on the fork rotation are in good condition.
- Lubricate all moving parts (wheel axles).
- Replace parts as necessary.
- Use silicone oil as a lubricant.
Tip for use
Always check that the back wheels are properly inserted before using the wheelchair by making sure the button is out.
The wheelchair comes set up with the basic configuration. Read the user guide before using it the first time.
Frame
Aluminium 7020 alloy frame with centre of gravity pre-set at 14 cm.
The wheelchair is designed to hold a maximum weight of 120 kg.
Seat
The wheelchair seat has four settings:
S - Seat width: 34 cm.
M - Seat width: 36 cm.
L - Seat width: 38 cm.
XL - Seat width: 40 cm.
- Adjustable seat depth.
- Adjustable front height.
- Adjustable back height.
Backrest
Height- and tilt-adjustable backrest (see user guide).
- Padded backrest.
- The tension of the backrest cover can be adjusted.
Back wheels
Back wheels: 25"
Aluminium push rims with a preset 20° wheel axle camber.
The wheels can be easily removed.
Front wheels
Front wheels: 72 mm diameter.
Anti-tip wheels
Anti-tip wheels: 72 mm diameter.
- Wheels are height- and depth-adjustable according to the user's needs
Cushion
Seat cushion is 5-cm-thick polyurethane, 75 Sh hardness. Cushion depth: 40 cm.
It has been developed to meet specific needs of wheelchair basketball.
The cushion does not prevent pressure sores.
Safety straps
Velcro thigh and ankle straps:
Thigh strap: Width: 8 cm.
Ankle strap: Width: 5 cm.

- Wheelchair seat width: available in 34, 36, 38, 40 cm options
- Seat depth: 40 cm.- Backrest height: 29 cm.- Backrest tilt: 91°.- Back height: 14 cm.- Front seat-to-floor height: 50 cm.- Back seat-to-floor height: 40 cm.- Distance between the foot rest and the seat: 41 cm.
