To avoid buying 2 masts, you can add a bigger top to your original mast to get 2 complete masts in 3 parts.

E.g.: with your 4m mast you can buy a 4.30 top and get a second 4 mast

What is the IMCS?

Index Mast Check System is a method for measuring mast rigidity: a 30 kg weight is placed in the middle of the mast, held in a horizontal position by its two ends. The amount of bending recorded at its centre corresponds to its index. The higher the figure, the more rigid the mast is. IMCS can be applied to any mast size.

This allows you to select your mast depending on your build: a more flexible mast for lighter surfers, and a stiffer mast for heavier surfers.
