THE RACE LIGHT: THE STORY OF A SHOE DESIGNED FOR RUNNING QUICKLY
Yes, it has to be said: the Race Light was the essential product missing from our collection. Essential because it is made for everyone. Essential because the target users have specific needs, which are often forgotten, because they don't represent most trail runners. And for good reason, there's only space enough for one person on the top of the podium!
Given the circumstances, nothing can stop you now: that's settled, the Race Light is the solution for the fastest strides!
MATRYX®: A HIGH-END MATERIAL DELIVERING PERFORMANCE AND HIGH QUALITY
A patented high-quality component that is well recognised in the world of trail running, the Matryx® fabric is produced in Rhône-Alpes. Made of high-tenacity polyester coated in polyurethane, it is ultra-durable, lightweight and breathable (resistance to tearing and abrasion, and breathable). We chose to add an aramid fibre yarn to the weave for even more support.
In short, we are proud to present you with this fine collaboration!
ANATOMY OF A WELL-HONED SHOE
So, observe the profile of the Race Light... Can you see the ridge that runs along the entire length of the sole? This is the Up Bar® technology, an idea borrowed from Kiprun (road running), involving a plate that has been designed with chiropodists.
Why?Optimise the propulsion of your stride and its energy response by stiffening both of these contact points without hindering the movement of your foot.
WHEN THE RACE LIGHT GOES HAND-IN-HAND WITH PERFORMANCE
The Race Light is worn in competition (from 0 to 40 km, or up to 3h of running. Beyond this, you need to take our Race Ultra model), and/or in training during an especially fast session.
It's worth saying that once it is on your foot, the Race Light won't budge... Consequently, you only have to focus on your objective, and run (quickly)! It has a snug fit and is suitable for the slim feet of fast competitive trail runners.
REUNION ISLAND: SETTING FOR A DEMANDING TEST
What could be better than a demanding terrain, like that of Reunion Island, to test the Race Light?
Regarding the testers, the selection was conventional with trail runners whose ITRA rating is not below 700: real competitors ready to let rip!
"I made them run flat out several times around a 2.5 km circuit in particular, it was hard!" recounts Thierry BREUIL, former elite trail runner and product manager on this shoe.
A NEW LACE POCKET
Regarding the lacing, we spent a lot of time working on how to improve the lace storage system. The benefit of securing the laces in a pocket is simply to prevent them from coming loose or catching on branches or undergrowth.
What is the special feature of this strong stretch pocket? Rather than opening from the top, it opens from the bottom at the front the shoe. Consequently, the laces are more evenly spread inside the pocket.
AS WELL AS MANY OTHER QUALITIES TO BOOT...!
Two words to describe the Race Light: lightness and propulsion. As I am sure you will agree, 240 g in size 8 is pretty lightweight. As for the propulsion, it is improved by the UP'BAR technology and the low drop (4 mm). Bear in mind that the closer the drop is to zero, the more "natural" the running stride will be, i.e. more focused on the forefoot or midfoot area.
In short, our Race Light is a formidable all-terrain competition shoe!
