Taking care of the leather
We built the entire upper in 1.8/2 mm full-grain leather to not only ensure high robustness throughout your activities, but also so that you can keep them for years to come! No more cracking leather. As long as you grease your shoes regularly and leave them to dry away from all sources of heat (radiators, wood stoves, etc.), they'll keep you going for years and years.
1/ Remove dust from the shoes with a brush. With water and soap if necessary.
2/ Apply the Nikwax leather cream
European Production
This shoe was designed in France, developed by the production team in Italy, then manufactured in Romania by a supply partner.
A majority of the materials also come from Europe.
Robustness, Grip, Support
It's pretty simple: You practice several types of hunting or outdoor activities, move between flat lowlands and woods and the mountains and sometimes encounter aggressive vegetation. What you need is something truly sturdy! And that's what you get, with 1.8/2 mm full-grain leather, integrated sewn-in stone guards lined at the front, all-terrain VIBRAM soles with 5 mm lugs and a 7-inch upper (17.8 cm).
Waterproof properties
Outings are more pleasant when your feet stay dry throughout! But this is the #1 problem when shoes get taken off the beaten path. So our design team worked hard on this very issue. Here we've integrated a breathable, waterproof membrane underneath the leather, one that keeps water from getting in (rain, dew, etc.) while letting perspiration out. And we tested it in the lab, with 100,000 flexes submerged in water—equivalent to more than 40 km or 24 hours of walking—without water infiltration.
Waterproof gaiters and trousers
Even if it doesn't rain, vegetation can be drenched with water. So don't forget your gaiters or waterproof trousers! Otherwise water will soak through your trousers then your socks and you'll find yourself with 2 wet feet. Also don't forget to get yourself a good pair of socks for greater comfort, such as our ACTIVITY 500 socks, and to keep your toenails clipped, as they can damage the insides of your shoes and let water in.
Co-design history
This shoe was entirely co-created on the Decathlon co-design platform: https://cocreation.decathlon.fr/, with more than 150 users participating.
We conducted surveys to select the materials, structure, features and design of this shoe over several months. Finally, the shoe was tested over the course of 1 year by some of the participants. This shoe was created by you, and you did an exceptional job!
