Which is the right size?
A few tips to choose your size:
S: between 1.50m and 1.64m
M: between 1.65m and 1.74m
L: between 1.75 m and 1.84 m
1/ Sitting on the saddle, you should be able to touch the ground with the tips of your toes.
2/ To adjust the saddle height, your knee should be slightly flexed with the foot on the pedal in the lowest position.
3/ If you're between two sizes, choose the larger size.
THE WOMEN'S ROCKRIDER MTB PROJECT
Designed and developed entirely in France at the B'Twin Village (Lille). The team studied the features of the female form and used this to design and test the ST 540 MTB, involving women mountain bikers at every stage of the process.
Our goal is to make you want to ride and enjoy every single outing on a comfortable and easy-to-ride mountain bike.
A MOUNTAIN BIKE DESIGNED FOR WOMEN
We carried out studies to create a mountain bike specially designed for women. These included studies with the Decathlon Sports Lab, and real-world tests with hard-core women mountain bikers. 6 months later, this was the result: a bike with positioning elements designed for women!
- An ergonomic saddle designed for the female pelvis.
- A fork that can be adjusted to your weight, from 45kg upwards
- Shorter handlebar and a 60 mm adjustable stem
- Grips and brake levers moved closer together
A COMFORTABLE, PLAYFUL FRAME
For added comfort on our ST 540 women's model, our designers created a frame that's easy to get onto. The CGF frame (Comfort Geometry Frame), made of 100% aluminium, provides excellent comfort and manoeuvrability.
The slope is designed to keep your back straighter, so you can ride without neck pain, while the shorter rear bases make the bike more agile in turns.
FRONT SUSPENSION FOR CUSHIONING LUMPS AND BUMPS
Adjust the suspension hardness based on your weight (45 kg on up), to get over roots and stones more easily (UFIT technology exclusively patented by Decathlon). Just turn one dial and you're done! Nice and easy.
Designed for riding on rough terrain, the fork's 100mm travel and the 27.5" wheels allow you to easily ride over most obstacles. The hydraulic disc brakes are powerful and progressive in all weather conditions.
DERAILLEUR & DRIVETRAIN: HOW TO CHANGE SPEEDS
2 9-speed chainrings provide a wide range of 18 speeds that are easier to use.
2 quick shifters that are easy to use: control ascents / descents.
Right (speeds): more precise control over your pedalling.
In detail: -Double chainring
-Shimano Altus / Acera front derailleur
-SRAM X2 rear derailleur
-SRAM X4 shifters with gear indicators
The axle running through the external bearings ensures excellent rigidity and robustness in the long term.
STEM, HANDLEBAR, GRIPS: for comfort
The shorter 60mm aluminium stem, which is specially designed for the female form with a 10° angle, delivers maximum comfort. The 680 mm wide aluminium handlebar provides good control and stability. And the soft touch handles are comfortable to hold and provide good grip.
To adjust the bike to your build, move the spacer (the coloured ring) to adjust the stem's height, or turn it over to raise it.
An ERGONOMIC SADDLE that adjusts in one step.
An exclusive women's "COMFORT PLUS" saddle designed especially for the female pelvis. The wider, hammock-style design is hollowed out in the centre for comfort.
Want an even comfier saddle?
Add a saddle cover. Adjust your saddle height quickly and without tools using the quick-adjust lever.
HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKES: GET A GRIP ON YOUR BRAKING
To better fit women's smaller hands, we reduced the distance between the handlebar and the brake by 1 cm. This more responsive position will help you build confidence as you ride. The Tektro aluminium brake levers are easy to grip, lightweight, and precise.
The double hydraulic disc brakes provide powerful, progressive braking at the front and rear.
The brakes can be applied using only two fingers.
We recommend that you have your brakes checked at least once a year.
27.5" WHEELS & TYRES FOR DRY GROUND: READY TO RIDE?
Take on your first obstacles! The AEROTRAIL Evo aluminium wheels are effective and sturdy: 27.5" with double-walled rims. Their diameter offers an excellent balance of performance and comfort. With 28 spokes, they are lightweight, stiff, and robust.
The exclusive B'Twin All Conditions 27.5"x2.2 wide tyres are designed for dry terrain. The side knobs provide grip on turns. The recommended tyre pressure, based on the weight of the rider, is marked on the tyre sidewall.
PLATFORM PEDALS
The women's ST 540 comes with platform MTB pedals mounted on bearings, made from hard resin for light weight and safety.
If your foot slides on the pedal, there's less risk of injury.
EASILY TRANSPORT AND STORE YOUR MOUNTAIN BIKE
Not all rides start on your doorstep.
Need to remove the front wheel?
Simply unscrew the built-in clamping lever.
And the rear wheel?
There is a nut at the back wheel to secure the bike and reduce the risk of theft.
You will need a spanner to loosen it (so always carry a multitool in your bag on your rides).
A bike carrier will make your life easier if you want to avoid dirtying your car.
Accessories
Your ST 540 mountain bike is fitted with a bell, lights, wheel reflectors and pedals.
The frame is compatible with:
- front and rear mudguards,
- stand,
- bottle cage,
- saddle bag,
- rear pannier rack,
- child seat (add an additional pannier rack for sizes S and M to avoid touching the rear wheel)
etc.
OUR ADVICE FOR YOUR FIRST RIDES
We recommend wearing cropped bottoms or cycling shorts with a pad (foam in the shape of a saddle), or a gel saddle cover, for added comfort while riding. For long rides, it's always a good idea to take something to drink with you (e.g. a hydration bladder or bottle).
Even on short mountain bike rides, wearing a helmet, gloves and goggles, are essential for your safety.
An easy-to-understand MTB with stickers
The stickers, which are resistant to wear, provide hints on how to adjust your bike:
- fork adjustment - tyre pressure and valve type (for the pump) - rim diameter (for inner tubes) - saddle height adjustment. When setting out on an MTB ride, it's handy to have the instructions right there on the bike itself!
