At Decathlon we don’t only take the intrinsic quality of the material into consideration to assess its waterproofing qualities (in this case, the fabric is more than 20,000 Schmerbers), but we also check the end product’s waterproofing in a climate chamber by reproducing different levels of precipitation. This hat protects you against 12cm of rain for 2 hours, which equates to 60L of water an hour and per metre cube: in other words, it provides great protection against a heavy shower.
A water-repellent accessory
A fabric is water-repellent when water slides off the surface of the fabric, without seeping in. As a result, the fabric does not soak up water and remains light, breathable and warm. Fabric is rendered water-repellent by applying a treatment to the outer surface. In other words, when you are out on public coastal lands or in a hide or waiting for a fly-by in the rain, not a single raindrop will get through the hat. You’ll stay nice and dry and you can carry on hunting.
A hat with appealing and innovative functionality
This hat, which has a mesh lining designed for improved breathability and wicking perspiration away from your head, can be adjusted using the drawstring under the chin. Its defining feature is that it is asymmetrical: the visor is longer at the back (on the neck) than at the front: this ensures that you can spot ducks coming towards you high up in the sky without any difficulty. Finally, you’ll be really surprised by how light it is: it weighs just 80g!
Why is ripstop fabric more resistant?
Ripstop is a mesh-based fabric. This means that the weft and warp threads on this hunting hat have been designed with its resistance in mind. The goal? Avoiding potential rips!

Storage tips
